SCHOOLS AND WORKSHOPS
PAPERHAND has performed and done residencies at many schools over the years with great success. Children laugh and scream with delight time after time. Our program includes: playing drums, doing a small-scale-puppet show (ie. "The Crawdads' Conundrum"), bringing out some of our giant puppet characters (with teachers help), and a question and answer at the very end.
To bring our shows to your school it costs $700 for 1 and $900 for 2 assemblies. Please contact us for more information.
Our residencies are often custom, ranging widely in possibility and price. Some recent examples are a several month res. at Perry Harrison elementary in Chatham Co. where we collaborated with students and teachers to create "Under the Seven Arches" inspired by Cherokee myths and legends. The students made animals and other creatures to envisage the tales that we chose from the Cherokee tradition.Another project involved Club Blvd. Elementary, a durham magnet school, where we helped students create puppets for 2 plays. They performed one show about the Renaissance and then next about the Harlem Renaissance. Our residency was designed to help them create giant puppets and masks to be the characters in the show. It was fabulous fun!
